Balgobin Nandram

Council Member

Balgobin (Bal) Nandram is a Senior Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is a fellow of the American Statistical Association, an elected member of the International Statistical Institute, and an elected member of the Sigma Chi, the Scientific Society of America. Bal does research at the interface of survey sampling and Bayesian statistics. He specializes in hierarchical Bayesian models, predictive inference of finite population parameters and nonignorable nonresponse and selection models for small areas. He has taught several courses and advised several MS theses and PhD dissertations on these topics. Bal is well known for his research among the US government agencies, and he has collaborated with scientists at the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), USDA.
